This upgrade introduces several new features and functionalities to enhance the scoring logic of Practicode. The main objectives of the upgrade are:
- We are allowing partial credits based on incorrect modifiers and units entered by users.
- Excluding optional ICD-10 codes and modifiers from impacting the final score.
- Providing users with visibility of RVU values against their CPT codes.
- Linking CPT and ICD-10 codes for improved coding accuracy.
Scoring Rules
- Basic Rule of the Scoring -
- If the number of code count entered by user is greater than the Actual correct code count, then the score is calculated based on the formula
- (Number of correct codes entered by User/ Number of codes entered by User)*100
- If the number of code count entered by user is less than the Actual correct code count, then the score is calculated based on the formula
- (Number of correct codes entered by User/ Number of Actual correct codes) *100
- If the number of code count entered by user is greater than the Actual correct code count, then the score is calculated based on the formula
Partial Credits
We will be allowing partial credits based on incorrect modifiers and units entered by users.
- Currently, the system marks the entire line entry wrong if one item is incorrect.
- Update: The system will allow partial credits even if the modifiers or units are entered correctly. This will be marked with the letter “P” to indicate that partial credit has been applied.
NOTE: If you enter the wrong CPT code the system will mark the entry as incorrect. No partial credit will be provided for an incorrect CPT with the correct units or modifier(s).
Optional ICD-10-CM and Modifiers
Our answer keys will now include ICD-10-CM codes and modifiers that are considered optional or alternative options. In the answer key these codes are indicated by the asterisk (*) symbol next to them, indicating their optional status.
Optional code and modifiers should not impact the score if not entered.
If the code is entered and it is not indicated as an option nor is it included in the answer key it will be marked as incorrect.
RVU Value Visibility
RVU values will be visible when hovering over the details button from the answer key view. This will help users understand the sequencing requirements for Pro Fee cases for CPT codes. Sequencing rules do not impact E/M code entries or cases for other payer types.
Diagnosis Pointer (linkage rules)
The code entry area will now include a diagnosis pointer (linkage) entry area. This mimics coding in production coding where coders link diagnosis codes to CPT codes to support medical necessity. This field is optional and will not be counted against scoring. The linkages will be visible in the answer screen.
