Overview
You now have the ability to control when the enrollment period starts for learners at your facility. This setting lets you align enrollment timing with how your program actually runs, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all default.
What's New
During facility setup in Practicode, you'll see a new setting under Enrollment Management called Set Start Enrollment Setting.
You can choose one of two options for when the enrollment period begins:
- After first access – The clock starts when a learner first opens the cases tied to their assignment. This is useful if your program considers engagement, not just assignment, as the true enrollment milestone.
- After case assignment (default) – The clock starts when cases are assigned to the learner. This is how the platform has always worked, and it remains the default.
Each option includes a tooltip in the UI for a quick reminder of what each one means. Your selection saves automatically as part of the facility configuration.
What Doesn't Change
If you don't make a selection, nothing changes. The system defaults to After case assignment, which is the same behavior your facility has always used.
Existing enrollments are not affected by this update.
Action Needed
This is not a required change, but it's worth a quick review. If your program tracks enrollment based on when learners actually engage with their cases rather than when cases are assigned, switching to After first access may give you more accurate enrollment dates and cleaner reporting.
If the current behavior already works for your facility, no action is needed.
